About

Square Roots first opened its doors in 2006 and was later acquired in 2012 by Riccardo Romano who still owns the business today. Riccardo looked to his Italian heritage and was particularly inspired by the classic family hairdresser culture, where a salon was not just a hair dressers but a hub for friends and locals alike to get together and share a space for laughter, common values and community support. It is his priority to continue this tradition at Square Roots today but with a contemporary twist to cater for the local community of Brighton, known for its individuality and creativity.

Direction at the salon is headed by Riccardo and complimented by talented stylist Lucy Bryan. Together with their combined knowledge and experience of over 30 years in the industry, they have created a welcoming and inclusive space in the heart of the North Laine. Their combined passion for creating beautiful, innovative, stylistic and elegant hairdressing that fits your lifestyle and suits and compliments each individual is at the forefront of the salons ethos. They are proud to offer an environment that is a home away from home, where you can kick back, relax and fully trust in their experience and skill. They believe in building and forming strong, honest and trustworthy relationships with each and every client, as they truly are the heart and soul of the Square Roots family.

Best hair-related advice
Always shampoo twice! First to remove build-up and secondly to cleanse. Also, don’t make rash decisions when it comes to a drastic change, it’s always a good idea to come and have a chat about it beforehand and to discuss options and ideas
